View over Woy Woy Bay

(Random walkies)

Woy Woy Bay from near Woy Woy station

Having a bit of a crap week with the health. Rather tiresome. Tottered into Woy Woy mid morning and snapped this then tottered back home. Woy Woy Bay is one of my favourite views in the Brisbane Water/Greater Gosford area. It's shape and quietness are pleasing.

In the foreground you can see Woy Woy Station (right) and the bus station (centre), part of the walkway from the station to the Clocktower Building (green roof, right) and the rusty tin roof of the Masonic Hall in the right corner. All on Railway Street.

Gosford

Mind, my week was nothing on that of the poor bastard who died in the Gosford fire on Wednesday night. The guy's name is Edgar Griesberg and on Tuesday night he was working late at Gerry's Electricals, his business at the corner of Donnison Street and Albany Street North in Gosford. It's in today's Central Coast Express.

The building collapsed and presumably will be completely demolished. Normally when I add a photo to my Gone set on Flickr it's because an old house has been replaced by a block of units or something. Pity this addition isn't happening under those circumstances. My sympathies to the Griesbergs.

Gerry's Electricals cnr Donnison Street & Albany Street North Gosford

Gerry's Electricals on the corner of Donnison Street & Albany Street North Gosford. A pleasant old factory unit just up the hill from the Gosford Court and behind the Marketplace shopping centre. Built in the 1940s I think. I never got round to posting it when I walked those streets in the winter of 2006. I was going to take a front-on photo but never got round to it.

i was walking out the front entrance of deepwater plaza on thursday evening to go back to my car which was parked across from the station I happened to look up and noticed that there is what looks like a mobile phone tower on top of the mountain thats across from the station - how long has that been there?

You know what I've only just noticed?
That there're hardly any people doing peopley things in the backgrounds of your pictures.

Hardly any!

How many people live in 'straylya? 12 (and Fuckkit)?

Michael - This one? Forever. Or about 10 years, unless it's the TV bouncer tower thingy as well as a mobile tower. Though the TV bouncer tower thingy for Brisbane Water might be that one up on Kincumba Mountain. There's 2 towers up there. One's a microwave and the other I can't remember too well. Think it's all spiky in yer classic aerial style.

Device dear - 20 people live in Australia, not counting Fuckkit. In Woy Woy it's just me, a commuter and 2 DOTs.

Familiarity breeds blindness and all that. Here's a test for you. What do you reckon those brick pillars are/were for? They're across the road from the Chambers Place carpark. Looks to me like there was a caryard there at some point.

So it's you, me, 2 DOTs and a wee brown dog :)

well you got me there mate I have no idea what pillars you are talking about but i cant recall a car yard ever being in that street other than that i dont know what they are there for

Painted brown they are*. Same brown as the strange gate at the
unregarded corner. Four or six of them all up.

* Like Yoda sounding I am.

i'll keep an eye out for them next time i park in the car park opposite when i go shopping at woolies

i saw those pillars today i think they might have been part of a fence at one stage

That's what I'm thinking. Fence for what I dunno. Something in the 80s I suspect.
